Xiaomi SU7 Ultra prototype achieves lap record for 4 door car at Nurburgring Nordschleife, 6’46″874

Xiaomi’s SU7 Ultra completed a record for 4 door car at the Nurburgring Nordschleife track, finished at 6’46″874 on October 28, 2024. British professional driver David Pittard drove the SU7 Ultra. His Wikipedia profile said he competes in the Nurburgring Endurance Series and was part of the Frikadelli Racing Team that won the 2023 24 Hours of Nurburgring.

For comparison production Tesla Model S Plaid with Track Package recorded 7’25.231 driven by Tom Schwister on 06/02/2023. A production Tesla Model 3 Performance recorded 8:11.72 sometime in 2020. The 4 door Porsche Taycan Turbo GT clocks in at 7:07.55 driven by Lars Kern on 01/02/2024.

This achievement puts Xiaomi on the map as a formidable EV competitor to Tesla. More remarkable is its pace of progress.

The Xiaomi SU7 Ultra gets 0-100 km/h in 1.97s, 0-200 km/h in 5.96s and 0-300 kmh in 15.07s. It has top speed of 350 km/h.

To reduce weight, it uses 100% carbon fiber on exterior panels. Its batteries can output 1330kW. Total weight is 1900kg and has 1548ps horsepower. SU7 Ultra uses a tri-motor setup.

The unedited lap record is published on Xiaomi’s Youtube channel: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N9lA8HcS6Nw
