Tesla releases new Tesla Model 3 in China and Australia and lowers prices of Model X, Y and FSD

Tesla is now taking orders on the new Model 3 in China, EU and Australia. The new Model 3 is shown in the Australia Tesla website: https://www.tesla.com/en_au/model3

Changes that simplify assembly and improve quality:

Front headlights are integrated with fog lamp into one piece.

Tail lights are integrated as one piece with the hatch door.

Turn signals and gear selection stalks have been removed. Buttons and screen control take their place.

Available in Rear-Wheel Drive and Long Range AWD. No word on Performance model.

Rear Wheel Drive accelerates 0-100km/h 6.1s and Long Range AWD does it in 4.4s. Long Range AWD can charge at higher max rate of 250kw vs 170kw. Range is improved to 513 km for Rear-Wheel Drive and 629 km (WLTP) for AWD with optimized aerodynamics.

The cabin noise has been better optimized with new windshield, wheels, tires, and suspensions.

Rear passengers can now control AC and consume entertainment with a new 8″ rear center console touch screen.

Front seats are ventilated.

Around the same time new Model 3’s release, Tesla reduced prices on Model S and Model Y.

Model S Dual Motor All Wheel drive is $74,990 and Tri Motor Model S Plaid is $89,990.

Model X is in the SUV category and with the new price of $79,990 it now qualifies for US Federal Tax Credit, assuming income eligibility requirements are met. With the $7,500 tax credit, Model X Dual Motor All-Wheel Drive is effectively $72,490. Model X Plaid has been reduced to $89,990.

Price reductions are signs that Model S and X demand is weak. The new prices reduce profit margin but bring in new customers. Tesla is trying to match demand with output and avoid having to shutdown the factories to reduce output.

FSD price has been reduced to $12,000 from $15,000.

There is also discounts of about $2000 on Model Y on inventory vehicles.
