August 4, 2023 Tesla SEC 8-K filing statement announced their CFO Zachary Kirkhorn has ended his position. Kirkhorn had been with the company for 13 years and overseen a lot of growth during his term. Since he has a complete understanding of the business, he was rumored to be a candidate for Tesla CEO succession planning. He communicated well with the investment community and known to have good working relations internally. He had made the right cash allocation and investment decisions for the company. For all his contributions, this is a significant loss for the company. The good news is Kirkorn will stay until the end of the year during this transition period to new CFO Vaibhav Taneja. Mr. Taneja was CAO at Tesla since 2019 and had accounting roles at SolarCity which Tesla acquired. Before that he was at PricewaterhouseCoopers from 1996 to 2016.
